NEW ROADS TO THE FUTURE

On 25th of July 2015, the hand-over ceremony for 1,200 meters of concrete roads built by the 2015 Green Summer Campaign team of the Geology and Petroleum Department of the Polytechnics University (GEOPET) took place in Huyen Hoi Commune, Cang Long District, Tra Vinh Province.

The construction was completed in less than 30 days of the 2015 Campaign  and is the 6th Green Summer Construction completed under the main sponsorship of Hoang Long and Hoan Vu JOCs since 2010, three of which were in Dong Thap Province and three in Tra Vinh Province. The new roads replace the muddy dirt roads which endangered people travelling, especially children in the rainy seasons or during  periods of flooding. Speaking to  some local people on the hand-over day, it was easy to see the happiness on their faces, given the new concrete roads and their gratitude  for the efforts of the 49 voluntary students from GEOPET and the financial support from the Donors.

The new roads will  facilitate traffic safety and will improve education and life quality for the people.  The Green Summer Campaign is one of the most  efficient donation projects of the JOCs and demonstrates high value to the impacted communities in a very short space of time. The success of the 2015 GEOPET Green Summer Campaign also contributes to a number of highly significant events for the JOCs in July including the Load-out and Offshore Installation of the TGT H5 WHP Topside, the celebration of 1 million man-hours on the H5 Project without any Lost Time Incidents and 20 million man-hours without Lost Time Incident on the Te Giac Trang Field.

It is hoped that the new roads will help deliver for the locals a new brighter path to the future, especially for the children, which has always been the principle aim of all Donation Projects of Hoang Long and Hoan Vu JOCs.
